THE GIFT

To love, to be in love, to feel loved … what does it all mean. What does it mean to be in love if we cannot connect to our own heart, and by doing that, to have the ability to connect to the hearts of others, and feel things, see things, experience life from their point of view… from their experience. How can we be so blind, dumb and deaf to that and those who are around us.

Slow down people… we move too fast. We are often so caught up with reaching the next experience and/or being ready to welcome the next train load of thoughts, that we miss out on the best part of this human experience… that which is the present moment, the greatest gift given to man. It’s no wonder that it’s called ‘the Present’.

KING & JOKER

Fear and worry is the work of the joker. I hope that my people are just entertained by it but not fooled by it.

It’s the trickster at play.

Those who know the nature of their true self on a deeper level will only be amused by the fear and worry that can so easily get spread like wild fire.

Those who have taken the time to know themselves, to know god, to connect with that intelligence, that presence that is within and beyond us, will know the path home.. the path to love.

If you are in in fear or worry today …fear not my friend. As that is just the act of the joker trying to entertain you.

YOU are the KING. The world is YOUR CASTLE.

TAMING THE MONKEY MIND

Some people have all the luck. Some people have all the fun. Is this true ? .. Or is it a mind made concept ?

Every morning as we wake up, we get to decide what feelings we wish to harbour in us. We have this power to choose . We can choose to wake up feeling sour, moody and unhappy. Or we can choose to be grateful, enthusiastic and excited about the day ahead.

After all, we ALWAYS have the choice to live it any which way we wish.

Remove the mind and go with the feeling. Remove the thought and get connected with the body. But how does one ‘remove’ the thought you may ask ? Ahhh…thats actually easy when you know how.

Whenever you feel the need to disengage from any thought, just ask yourself ‘who is thinking ?’ … ‘ who is is observing?’ … ‘who is feeling?’ …’who is judging?’ … ‘who is trying to make sense of this moment?’

When we stop and ask ourselves such questions we automatically disengage from thought identification and instantly get more connected with the body, the present moment and the universal flow of life. Just BE.

Why do we always think that tomorrow is certain, and the things we wish to experience today we leave for the future ? …

Procrastination is one of our biggest enemies, and often stems from overthinking a task/challenge to be way bigger than it actually is.

When the the steps are broken down into littLe bite size bits, it becomes easier to initiate action, as the action that needs to be taken next is within our level of skill and comfort levels with regard to the challenge at hand.

THE OBSERVER

The Puzzle

Your first name is free.
Last name is dom.
And yet you dont see, we are all made of one. One cloth. One piece of a large puzzle. A jigsaw puzzle if you may.

Each and every one of us is a piece of a large jigsaw puzzle. It is our differences and uniqueness that makes us fit so beautifully together. Perfectly intertwined, perfectly and intricately woven into each others lives.

And yet we see ourselves as separate from one another. We feel disconnected to the point where we feel we are constantly being judged and analysed by the other.

How silly would it be for one jigsaw piece to judge and analyse another jigsaw piece that is part of the same picture. They need each other.

We need each other.

REWIRING

Quite often when i tell the people that i meet, that am currently getting certified as a Mental Trainer for Peak Performance, am met with a blank look on their face, which made me ponder on the essence of mental training.

In essence, mental training is the process of consciously rewiring your brain towards new habits, new routines and new ways of thinking.

Much of our negative mental habits and the corresponding suffering related to them are the results of two things.

Ignorance, and laziness.

Ignorance or not being taught and therefore not knowing a better way to respond to situations or formulate patterns that serve us better, be it thought patterns, habit patterns or routines.

And Laziness – allowing the old wiring to be the automatic default reaction and response instead of understanding our amazing ability as humans to be able to distinguish between the automatic reaction of the old wiring and the process of consciously setting in new procedures to ensure new ways of responding. ie : Rewiring.

V is for Varrior

A warrior reconnecting to the natural flexibility of our being.

That’s all i am.

Thats’s all i am mean’t to be. Sometimes it feels like so.

Deep beneath the layers of ‘you’, ‘me’, ‘I’, ‘he said’, ‘she said’, we are all enlightened warriors attempting to re-connect with our natural essence.

That, which we came from. That, which we will return to. That essence which runs runs through every human, animal, plant, and element of nature. That which, for some of us has become known as and fondly called, God.

The warrior works tirelessly hoping to discover a new layer within himself. To connect with a deeper part of his essence. To make sense of his journey. To find his place that fit’s in the large jigsaw puzzle that is life.

He wishes to share this journey with his fellow warriors. Learn from them what he needs to know. Share with them, that which he has conquered, and maybe useful to them in their journey.

We are all warriors of light, you, me, he, and she, masked as limited beings with narrow minds and small ambitions.

WAKE UP my fellow warriors. Dawn is here, and it’s time to remove the masks.

YOU ARE LIMITLESS

The New Day

Every moment is my enlightenment.

Every moment carries in it all the knowledge, all the lessons and all the experience we need to take us one step closer to our enlightenment.

We just have to wake up to the moment and see it for what it is. Accept it for what it is. Learn from it what we can. Be grateful for it in the best way we know how, and move on to the next moment.

The minute we start to observe our life and experience it from the perspective of the observer, the mental knots and patterns start to become more visible, and through our attention and soft awareness the knots start to loosen up and untangle themselves. The problems that seemed life threatening just a minute ago, swiftly starts to pass by like all things in life.

Everything is just passing. The clouds, the seasons, the people in our lives, the thoughts, the feelings, the roles we play … ‘Everything’. Our problems too.

Just like a man would look at the clouds in a grey sky and know deep in his heart that the sun still shines behind the clouds, know that the thoughts that are causing you to abandon your peace of mind, are just passing too.

You are peace. The sun never left.

Everything is passing.

This moment too.

Stranger at the door

Every life we have some trouble, when you worry you make it double, ” So let go off the worries in your head ” he said.

“But thats easier said than done” said the boy. “How does one let go of something that they did not invite in the first place. To which the man replied. “Think of worries like strangers who show up at your house and ring your door bell. If you try to ignore them and pretend they were not there , they will persist with the ringing until they have made such a big nuisance of themselves, that you finally give in and let them in”.

“Should i just let them in on the first ring ? ” … asked the boy.

“No” replied the man. “Because then they would just walk right in and live in your house and make you feel like the uninvited guest. “

“Then what should i do ? ” asked the little boy..feeling a bit confused.

So the man explained. “Think of worries like strangers who have lost their way. When they ring your doorbell you can open the door, politely entertain their queries at the doorstep, give them directions if needed, wish them well and say goodbye.”

“Will they never come back again? ” ..asked the boy.

To which the man replied .. “If you are attentive to this practice, you will notice that the frequency of these uninvited guests will be lesser by the day, until it almost never happens at all.”*

To which the boy smiled … “NOW.. i understand !”

Sometimes we have to address the ‘child’ within us in order to let go and move on, isn’t it … Can you relate ?

Self investigation. Self introspection. It’s a scary thing. We never know what we may find. There may be treasure. There may be horse shit. Maybe the treasure is covered by the horse shit. And we are just too scared to begin to look within and start cleaning up some of that horse shit.

What if we were guaranteed to find the infinite treasure beneath the relatively thin layers of horse shit ? Would that inspire us on a path of total immersion ? … Complete introspection.

What is it that scares us ? … What is it that stops us … information ? … skill ? … or the will ?

I know not, if i have cleared all the layers of horse shit within me. But i most certainly have cleared away enough to see glimpses of the treasure within me. The treasure within each human being.

It’s calling me. It’s calling me. It’s calling me.
I see it’s glitter.

RINSE & REPEAT

Rinse it all away. … Rinse your mind, Rinse your thoughts, Rinse your body, Rinse your life… just rinse it all away.

Just like rain that comes to water, … that comes to wash away the sins of you and i

Whatever your thoughts are this moment. Whatever your feelings are this moment. Just think of the person you love the most in this world, and let your thoughts, and feelings and emotions be rinsed with love. The water of the universe. The language of the soul. You all know what am talking about.

Rinse, Rinse, Rinse away
For life is but a dream.
And eventually, we too will pass away,
Like a drop of water in a stream

It’s not about whether we want to or not. We must do the things we must do. The things we know are important. The things that others only dream of doing, but we, in our awakened state do so easily.

It’s the flow. The flow of the water. The flow of air that passes through our body. The flow of money that passes in and out of our experience. The flow of life and seasons, and allergies and viruses. The flow of life and death, health and sickness, it is all in flow. Be at one with this flow. Accept the good with the bad. With the same enthusiasm. Nothing is permanent. Everything is in flow.

Today i woke up and realised my hair was receding. There was no longer the possibility of keeping up an image that was once so important that it was almost impossible to live without. Life is impermanent. So are the constructions of our self images. They are all part of the flow. Nothing lasts forever, neither the good nor the bad.

So embrace whatever may come. Cherish it. For it is what’s perfect for you at this very moment in time

Dive in it said..so i did. All in, and never looked back. Which was quite strange for me as i was always one of those kids who stood at airport departure lounges looking back again and again at the person or persons whom i just bid farewell to, often until i was the only person left looking back, almost wanting to be the last man standing in the whole sad airport departure lounge farewell scenario, but also almost always leaving a little bit disappointed that i was the only one still looking back. SO, this time .. there was no looking back.

It was time let go of all the anchors and to finally let the boat sail. Cos thats what boats were made for, i once read. That was a reassuring thing to know that boats were actually made to sail, and not just stay docked at a harbour as it was too afraid to go out into the deep open sea, that had big waves, and winds, and nasty surprises like the loch ness monster (figuratively speaking), but also great adventure, undiscovered destinations, and perfect reflections of the milky way on the water of a still night.

Why do we let our fears and insecurities steer our dreams and actions ? .. Much like the boats we too were made to discover great things, within and beyond.
What is it that stops us from cutting the cords that keep us attached to our safe harbour, and sail towards new discoveries. .. the loch ness monster ???

Even if the loch ness monster did exist , wouldn’t that be something worth experiencing and even dying for ? .. or would it be better to just stay comfortable in the docks with no interesting stories to share with the boats that pass by.

This has intrigued me for years now. Why we do what we do. What our motivations are for leaving the harbour, for getting out of bed, for digging deep within to find what it takes to rise up after each wave of defeat.

How much do our perceptions, of victory and defeat, have to do with it ?

A defeat is only a defeat if we had a desired outcome in mind and perceived the final destination as the pot of gold, the place where the rainbow ends… where happiness is finally found.

What if the age old saying ‘it’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey’, is actually true ? … Then the defeats and victories will all be down to how we perceive them with our minds and our thoughts affiliated to it.

What can be the reminder ? … What can be the thing that reminds us that it’s all about the journey, NOT the destination. Who care’s if we left the harbour to sail from east to west and ended up totally off course… ? .. We could stay in our little bunk bed below brooding about it or we could go up on deck for some fresh air and realise that it’s a perfectly still night, with a million stars out in the sky, reflecting itself in the water in a way that is hard to distinguish where space ends and earth begins. It might just be the most amazing memory we ever capture.

Would’t that make it worth it ?
